Introduction to Glass Fusing:
Glass fusing is an exciting and liberating glass art which enables artists to create glass designs by fusing compatible glass pieces together in a kiln. In this class students will have the opportunity to make two projects, and learn the basics of glass fusing, glass compatibility, design processes and glass cutting and shaping skills; as well as cleaning and layering techniques, and some basic kiln programming. Previous glass fusing experience is not required. (Students may only take this class once.)
3 Sessions, 3 hours ea. Cost: $195.00 includes rental of tools, glass and fusing fees for class projects. No glass purchased outside of the studio is allowed in our fusing classes.
Intermediate and Advanced Level Studio Time
Students who have completed our Quick and Easy Fusing and Forming class may sign up for Studio Time or Instructional Studio Time.
Straight Studio Time is designed for students who want to have access to the studio equipment to independently create their fused glass art.
Instructional Studio Time is scheduled with an instructor who can help a student discern a process for achieving a specific outcome. Contact the studio for more information about costs, and to schedule your time. Whenever possible the studio will try to announce these sessions so that multiple students may attend and benefit from the discussion.
Students must have all their own supplies and tools, glass is not included in the cost of studio time or instructional studio time. Cost for Studio Time is $5.00/hour. Fusing charges will vary depending on size and quantity of work being fused. Instructional Studio Time will vary depending on amount of research and teaching time involved in discerning the desired process and the length of fusing time in the kiln for the project.
