How to Sign Up for a Class, Studio Time and More Information including:

Refund Policies, Project Storage and Missed Classes

How do I sign up for a class?  

 Students wishing to register for a class can either call the studio (224)735-2376, email us at to request a  reservation for a class.  Not all of the classes listed on the class pages appear on the website calendar, as many run concurrent with other classes.  Please call or email the studio for additional information.

Class cancellation:

         Classes are cancelled when enrollment minimums are not reached. Cancellation begins approximately one week before the scheduled first class.              Workshops and special events not meeting enrollment minimums will be cancelled two to three days before the start date. Visiting artist workshops          will be cancelled at least 10 days prior to the start date. CSGA cannot assume responsibility for travel costs for out of town students. Please contact          us to confirm workshop status before booking travel. 

Project Storage: 

We have very limited space for the storage of students projects. We are happy to store your project for you while you are actively coming to our studio. However, we would appreciate you taking your project home should you know that you will be absent for an extended period of time. Projects left over 60 (sixty) days will be considered abandoned and disposed of unless alternative arrangements have been made.

Studio Time: 

Students who have completed the beginning level Quick and Easy class will be eligible to purchase “Studio Time Cards.” Each card is $40 and is good for 10 one-hour sessions. If you are already an experienced stained glass artist you may purchase “Studio Time Cards” or pay for studio time by the hour. If purchased individually, Studio Time is $5.00/hour. During Studio Time, people may use our grinders and other heavy duty tools (band saw, table saw, etc.) but, they must provide their own hand tools and supplies (ie, rubbing alcohol, masking tape, pens and pencils, flux remover, polish, patina, etc.)  Students needing to make use of studio supplies will be charge $5.00 per session.  Studio Time is run Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, and Wednesdays 6:00-8:00 PM.  You must call us prior to coming into our studio to insure there is space available. Students registered for classes and those who have called ahead to reserve a spot will be given priority.

 Due to the popularity of our classes, we have instituted the following guidelines to guarantee space in our classes and to avoid last minute          cancellations:

1.  Class Fees must be paid at least one week in advance of the class in order to hold your space.     


2.  Tuition Refund Policy: WE DO NOT REFUND CLASS FEES OR DEPOSITS. However, we will make every effort to allow you to make up a class if you find you are unable to attend a class for which you have registered. Students should call within 24 hours of the start of a class if they will be unable to attend. 


3.  Any classes cancelled by Suevel Studios due to inclement weather, instructor illness, lack of enrollment or an unforeseen emergency will be rescheduled. In cases of questionable weather conditions, a decision of whether to cancel the class will be made as early as possible. We will call the number you provide to notify you of a cancellation.


4.  Prerequisites: These are determined by the instructor for each class. They are at the discretion of the instructor and only the instructor may waive them.


Who may enroll in our classes?

You must be at least 16 years of age to participate in our stained glass, fusing and mosaic classes.  Students must be at least 18 to take any of the lampworking classes.  No exceptions will be made to these age limits. 

Will I need my own hand tools?


         Students enrolled in the Quick and Easy classes will not need their own hand tools.  Students taking the Intermediate class will receive a tool kit as

         part of their class tuition which includes all of their hand tools.  Specialty tools such as grinders, ring saws, strip and circle cutters, etc. will be

         available from the studio as needed.  Students needing to make use of studio supplies and hand tools may be charged a $5.00 rental fee during each

         class session.


Can I take a makeup class for a missed class?

We will make every effort to allow you to make up a class if you find you are unable to attend a given session of a class. However, missed sessions must be completed by the end of the calendar year in which you are taking the class unless other arrangements have been made with the instructor.

I’d like to see a class you don’t offer, can you help?

You bet we can! We are always looking for a new class in the glass arts. It could be your inquiry that makes for enough interest to hold a class that has your interest. Please feel free to contact us and share your idea.

Do you carry supplies for doing stained glass, fusing, mosaic and lamp-working?

We carry a wide range of products in our studio, and have quick access to thousands more.  If you want to call prior to your visit we can tell you if what you are looking for is in stock and we will be happy to set it aside for your visit to our studio.  We will be more than happy to research a product and special order it for you if we don’t have it in stock. We will do our best to help you find the item you are looking for and make your stained glass experience enjoyable. We do require a deposit for items that are special orders.

Can I call you with my order?

Yes, you can order by calling us. Just give us a call during our normal business hours and we will be happy to take your information and process your order for a will call.  We do require a deposit for items that are special orders.

Mailing List (subscriptions) We maintain an email list that you may subscribe to receive our information and announcements. Emails sent using this subscription list is different than any emails you may receive as a result of an inquiry or order. You may unsubscribe at any time by following the links included in the email you received. We do not share, sell, lease or otherwise make available any information to parties other than Chicago School of Glass Art.

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

If you are coming in for studio time you must call ahead and book your time.  On Wednesday evenings, if we are not running a class and do not have at least 3 people signed up for studio time we will close at 5:00.  You can call or email us to sign up.
